2.12 – The Descent
Previously on the Vampire Diaries: a new werewolf named Jules showed up in town looking for Mason, Bonnie had another “magical” experience with Luka, Caroline helped Tyler through his first full moon transformation, Elena made a deal with Elijah, Stefan got out of the tomb, and Rose got bitten by Jules.
Tonight episode, “The Descent” is about Rose’s struggle and the painful rampage that she has to go through from suffering from a werewolf bite.
Elena and Stefan – reunited and it feels so good:
So, Elena thinks that now that she made the deal with Elijah she can go back and live her normal life. It starts with Stefan, of course. Nothing’s more normal for a 17 year old girl than getting back together with her vampire boyfriend. Really, Elena needs to wake up. When is she going to realize that her life is never going to be normal. Her mother is a vampire. Her boyfriend is a vampire. One of her best friend is a witch and the other one is a vampire. Her brother wears a magic ring that protects him from being killed by a supernatural force. She has a doppleganger that wants her dead. But, all sarcastic comments aside, I’m really happy that Elena and Stefan are back together. Sorry, Damon/Elena fans.
Jules – the big bad wolf:
Damn, she went all out on full moon, didn’t she? How many of those campers did she make a meal out of? I knew she was bad news the minute she showed up to town, but this is worst than I could have imagined. She was going to pull Damon by burning the bodies in the woods, only this is more gruesome since the bodies were in pieces. At least vampires just suck the blood out of people. Werewolves shred people into pieces! So inhumane.
Matt, Caroline, and Tyler – a love triangle:
Triangles hurt people, kids. They have sharp edges. Have we learned nothing from Stefan, Katherine, and Damon? Someone always ends up getting hurt and from the looks of it, I think it’s going to be Matt. Poor, innocent, oblivious Matt. How is he ever going to win a fight with a werewolf?
Rose – I hope you had the time of your life:
This is expected. We all knew this was going to happen a couple of episodes back. Rose’s character has served her purpose. She showed up to Mystic Falls to tell Team Salvatore about the Originals and how they are after Elena. There’s no reason for her to stick around anymore. There is nothing interesting about her character. I know there are a lot of talks going around about the reason why Rose got bitten in the last episode and not Damon. They want the audience to see what a vampire would have to go through if they got bit by a werewolf and how Damon would be the one who gets bitten before this season is over. I really, really, really hope it’s not true.
Damon – drunk and upset:
This is a big Damon episode. Our boy was very busy. He took care of a sick friend, hung out with a werewolf at the grill to find a cure for his sick friend, murdered his sick friend because he found out the only way to cure her was to kill her, went out and killed an innocent human because he was upset and drunk, and oh yeah, he also teamed up with Sheriff Forbes to solve the town’s vampire problem (another one).
Damon really did learn everything he knows from Katherine. They are so alike. Damon suffered from a lost tonight. He cared about Rose and he felt guilty that she had to die because of him. After all, Jules was coming after him, not Rose. Rose’s death hurts him. And Damon doesn’t like that. He doesn’t want to feel. He doesn’t like to feel hurt. It’s been 34 episodes now and we all know Damon pretty well. Whenever Damon gets upset, he goes out and do something really stupid like snapping Jeremy’s neck. This time though, he pulled the old Katherine trick to find his prey. I don’t know about you, but I like the caring, sensitive, cry-me-a-river Damon better than the bloodsucking, people killing Damon.
Jeremy and Bonnie – MIA:
Where was Jeremy in this episode? Was he brooding in his room again because Bonnie ditched him to go see Luka?
So, Uncle John is back. Stefan called Isobel and he came back with John. What does that mean? Was John with Isobel? Does he know about the Originals? Also what does Jules mean when she told Tyler that a lot of their kind are on their way to Mystic Falls? Are they all coming to town to kill the vampires? This is just going to draw a lot of attention and Klaus is going to find out about all of this soon. In true TVD fashion, the episode ends with a lot of unanswered questions. Until next time.
