2.02 – Brave New World

Caroline, The Vamp!

Tonight episode of the Vampire Diaries is not as epic as last week’s, but it is the beginning of a new journey for these characters. The episode is cleverly titled,Brave New World. It definitely is a brave new world. Well, at least for Caroline.

When they ended last week’s episode, Katherine killed Caroline. Tonight episode starts with Caroline transitioning to a vampire.

Caroline’s New World:
I really wanted Caroline to stay human, but I think I like the vampire Caroline just the same. Caroline’s transition is not as crazy as Vicki’s was. I guess the drugs really did play a big part in Vicki’s transition. Caroline is pretty calm for the most part until she gets hungry and the daylight comes. I was so worried about how she was going to react toward Matt. She can’t hurt Matt. I think it would break my heart if she did. I was so proud of her when she controls herself around Matt at the end of the episode. I love how she keeps saying she’s sorry to the person she’s about to feed on. Even though she’s become a monster, her heart is still pure. She doesn’t want to hurt people, she just can’t control her hunger and her emotions.

One of my favorite lines from Caroline tonight is when she tells Damon, “You suck” (no pun intended). It is going to be really difficult for Caroline. Her mother is a vampire hunter. Her boyfriend is human, who has no awareness of vampires. She needs to control herself around these people in order to keep herself safe. I really hope Stefan can help her through this. Maybe he can convince her into his animal diet and Bonnie can put a spell on a piece of jewelry that is going to give her the ability to walk in the sun. That is if Bonnie can look pass the fact that Caroline is a vampire and remember that they were best friends.

Bonnie Blaming Damon:
Ok, this is totally unfair! Bonnie is just angry and she takes it out on the one person she hates most. If she wants to put a blame on someone, why not blame herself? She was the one who told Damon to give Caroline some of Damon’s blood. Elena told Bonnie that there were too much at risk and she couldn’t agree to this decision. Bonnie demanded Damon to give Caroline some blood in order to heal Caroline. She’s as much responsible for this as Damon is. It wasn’t fair of her to blame it all on Damon and tried to kill him with fire. Bonnie pretty much annoyed me this whole episode. Sorry, Bonnie. I’m not your fan this episode. You can make it up to me by being nice to Caroline and keep her safe.

The Lockwood Family Secret:
We all know what the secret is, except for everyone in Mystic Falls. Damon is trying to find out what it is and so is Tyler. Damon’s little trick to expose that secret worked. Uncle Mason brings out his wolf side tonight. Stefan saw the whole thing, and I hope that he can figure out what the Lockwoods are. Here’s my question… why doesn’t Mason want to tell Tyler what they are? Tyler is slowly turning into a werewolf. Wouldn’t it be nice to tell him what is happening to him and help him get through it? Why keep Tyler in the dark? Tyler needs to know what he is, so he can try to control it. Also, what is the deal with that moon stone? Why is Uncle Mason looking for it? What does that do? How is it connected to the legends of werewolf or the Lockwood family for that matter?

Now for the “Awww” going, Gooey Heart moments:

  • Matt telling Caroline he’s in love with her: My heart has melted after I watched this scene. Matt, being all vulnerable and Caroline, trying to control her emotions. That scene between them is so sweet. Go teammatt&caroline!!!
  • Stefan and Elena on the ferris wheel: Talk about the most romantic moment! He wakes her up in the middle of the night to take her out on the “normal” date that she wanted on the ferris wheel. Even with all the crazy events that are happening around them, they still try to find time to be normal. It’s obvious that Stefan would do anything to keep Elena happy. Gooey heart. <3

It looks like we are going to learn more about the Lockwood family next week. The moon is rising in Mystic Falls.
