Just finished listeneing to the podcast and it was a good listen as always. I will admit that even though I agree with you guys on some things, I do disagree with others. I agree that Damon and Stefan are not taking Tyler’s activating the curse seriously. It started out so, but the writers have introduced Claus in my opinion a little early. I think it would have been more interesting to focus on a newbie werewolf getting ready to go through the change for the first time and how that is going to affect the supernatural hot spot we call Mystic Falls.

Tyler is not the last werewolf. I believe centuries ago,Claus, after losing Katherine decided since he could not break the curse he would kill off all the werewolves. Katherine even said they had been hunted to the point of extiction and were not easy to find. Not easy to find indicates they are still around. I think there are more than we think, they are just very secrective and hide their true identies. Let’s face it the vampires got the better deal of the whole sun and moon curse. Vampires can kill a werewolf any day, but a werewolf can only kill a vampire while in wolf form with their bite.

Missing Jenna and Alric. More Alric because I love the vampire hunter working with basically good vampires. It makes for an interesting dynamic. At least he knows not to talk about his magic ring, unlike Jeremy.

I love Jeremy, but Damon called it right basically throwing Jeremy’s age and ridiculous plan back in his face at the lodge meeting. Even wanting to know why Jeremy was even there. Damon was blunt, a bit mean, but hey he cares about Jeremy and treats him like a second younger brother.

This Damon I am liking. A very bad boy, but an extremely good man in the making. Damon will always think, act, and deal with things more like a vampire. Where as, Stefan tries so hard to think and act like a human to blend in more. Damon does to a certain degree but he draws a line. I like how after he told Elena he loved her and he didn’t deserve her, couldn’t be selfish because he loved and she couldn’t remember. He has accepted that though he loves her, she only care about him, because she is in love with Stefan.

That said..Damon is still working on being a good man but he is no longer their go to blame all the problems on me guy. That was getting old. People are responsible for their actions, but yet Elena constantly blames Damon for everything. Taking any blame from herself, Stefan, Bonnie, etc… Oh yeah! blame Damon somehow its his fault. When he came to get Elena at Striders house. He was perfectly rigth to be angry with her. Though in NO WAY would he ever had hit her. That is Elena’s gig. She is always taking a swing at Damon and he has always let her. He’s shows much restraint when it comes to her. No this time though, and he let her know it. He told her flat out don’t you ever try that again. I was like hot damn!!! finally DAmon has grown a backbone when it comes to Elena. At no point did it seem like, feel like he was going to hit her. He only stopper HER from hitting himand told he was going to let her do that anymore to him. ……This leads to the Delena moment

Every once in a while you get two actors that just click. Their acting and chemistry just is. This is what Nina and Ian have. No words are needed between them. The moment the emotional atomsphere of the scene compels you and their eyes talk the dialog, because no words are needed. THAT IS A DELENA MOMENT!!! Don;t believe go back to Founder’s Day, at the beginning, when Damon and Stefan see Elena dressed up for the first time. Track her eyes they move from brother to brother but settle and land on Damon , thena little smile comes acroos her face. Trust me my daughter had us watch and rewind that scene atleast 30 times LOL!!!! She likes Stefan but she is a big Delena fan.

I knew there would be no kissing between them. She cares about him but doesn’t want to because hey he did kill her brother, but she kind of helped that to happen. You know Katherine is back playing head games. Elena telling Damon I only love Stefan when he is drunk and still reeling from it being Katherine he kissed and not Elena like he thought. Yep, that’s really helping Damon, NOT! So understand a little why Damon did what he did.
Damon I think as well isn’t so thrilled about being in love with Elena. He has had nothing but pain when it comes to him loving someone. He is jaded and afraid of being hurt again. Damon loves with all he has and it seems his feelings are thrown back in his face. To me Damon is the underdog here and STefan the golden child that does no wrong. Those kind of people annoy me. I like the hero who is a work in progress, who messes up but admits it and tries to do better, and to me that is Damon now. But he will always be a bit bad underneath that good man.

Anyway I digressed….we are starting to see Delena moments and her not being able to deny her feelings for Damon. Damon is fighting how he feels as well. This i think is building more slowly with them, unlike with her and Stefan. Their love was i see you, I love you, i love you, i love only you. With Damon it is taking root as Damon reveals more of his true self. Elena sees Damon at his best and worse. What you see is what you get with Damon. This has to happen for the series to work. IT is a love triangle after all. She has to be in love both brothers. We have seen her love for Stefan, but now the writer are working on her love for Damon.

Lastly, everyone sigh in relief! Elena has changed from last season and she should. Reeling from her parents death, survivors guilt, meeting and falling instantly in love with a gorgeous guy. Who then turns out to be a vampire with a very bad brother who is out to destroy a town that locked the “woman he was in love with up” and hey Elena looks just like her. You find out you were adopted and hey the uncle you loathe is actually your father and your mother is now a vampire who was turned by yep, Damon who has become your friend. YOur best friend is a witch and your new history teacher was your mother’s husband and guess what he now hunts vampires but hey he will work with Stefan and Damon. You open a tomb find out Katherine was never in there in the first place, Damon’s devestated but Elena keeps him grounded by just being who she and reminding of his emotions. She is becoming his best friend. Someone he trusts and actually likes. Uncle comes back to town, and going to kill all the tomb vampires and guess what uncle “Dad and vampire “Mom ” decide kill Damon and Stefan too for our daughter. Bonnie has to help Stefan save Damon because of Elena would kill herself trying to save Stefan and Damon. Now Elena finds out that there are werewolves, and her friend Tyler has werewolf blood, Caroline is now a vampire thanks to Katherine, who guess what is your great great great whatever grandmother. You are now the doppelganger that can break the sun and moon curse and the oldest vampire in existance wants you. YOu are the key to breaking the curse for the vampire but binding the werwolves to the moon spell forever.

Yes, Elena is not thinking too clearly but I get where she is coming from. She hopes by turning herself in that she can spare the people she loves, including Stefan and Damon. I caught that at the beginning and so did Damon as he and Elena looked at each other in her kitchen. Yes to break the sun part you have to have a witch, a vampire, and a werewolf…but that all hinges on whether you have a pertrovoff doppelganger…the blood that bound the curse in the stone itself. So Elena is right in it is because of her, her friends are in danger. Her wanting to protect them is not selfish. She just isn’t thinking things through. The same way her friends, brother, and stefan and Damon aren’t thinking things through. The problem here is everyone is keeping Elena out to the planning loop, and Elena is seperating herself from them because of what she feels she must do to protect them. Yes, Elena can be devious and manipulate when she has too. All of us do as time, she is dealing with supernatural forces being sweet , mindless goody girl is going to work in this situation. I like Elena working the vampires at their own game. She plays fair but if you aren’t she will and can play dirty if she has too, but its only because she wants to protect the people she cares and loves.

I love Nina’s protrayal of Elena and even though I read the books first. I can’t picture Elena being blond and blue eyed anymore. The book Elena I don’t really like. I much prefer how the tv writers have taken this book and used to make something more interesting. I think that also comes from great casting and the actors are just spot on.
